વૈશાખ સુદ એકાદશી થી પુર્નલ પાંચ દિવસ ભગવાન શ્રી કૃષ્ણ એન્ડ બલરામ અહીં આ જગ્યા પર એમેને અને તેના શંખ અને હલ ને જે ગૌ હત્યા ના પાપ ના નિવારણ માટે તપ કરેલ. જે તપ ના લીધે અહીં ની ગાય માતા જીવિત થઈ અને ગૌહત્યા નું નિવારણ થયું.
જેના લીધે આ જગ્યા નું નામ ગાય પગલાં પડ્યું . ટૂંક માં આ પવિત્ર સ્થળ નું માહત્મ્ય છે અહીં શખેશ્વર મહાદેવ નું શિવલિંગ છે, જેની સ્થાપના શ્રી કૃષ્ણ અને બલરામ એ કર્યું હતું .
